Suffolk County (NY) Sanitary District #18 WWTP – Headworks Building 

We are proud to announce increasing market utilization of Aerisa technology for odor control, corrosion control, and workplace air quality improvement. The latest installation is for a $42 million wastewater treatment plant expansion in Hauppauge, NY, that services the second largest industrial park in the Northeast.

A 4,000 CFM Aerisa bipolar ionization system was commissioned for Suffolk County to service the Headworks Building. The new Headworks Building includes primary screening, washing, and compacting equipment that generate numerous odorous and corrosive gasses.

Attacking Contaminants at Their Source
Unlike legacy odor control systems that utilize chemicals, carbon, or biological media to scrub air exhausted out of a building or headspace, ionization systems supply highly ionized air (i.e., with O2+, O2–  ions) inside the space to proactively attack the contaminants at their source while vastly improving in-area working conditions.

Contaminants treated through Aerisa’s ionization process include hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, amines, mercaptans, reduced organic sulfur compounds, volatile organic compounds, and surface bacteria and virus.

As a result, odors are greatly reduced, both inside the building and out; corrosive gasses are minimized; and working conditions are significantly improved within the building.
